Erin Peterson, Ph.D., Co-Director

Erin is a licensed clinical psychologist, and has been in private practice in Washington, DC since 2004, where she provides individual psychotherapy to adolescents and adults.  Additionally, she runs new mother support groups for Parent and Community Education (PACE) throughout the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Since 2007, she has served as an Adjunct Faculty member for the Georgetown University Clinical Psychology Advanced Training Program, teaching a group psychotherapy seminar to pre-and post-doctoral students.   Additionally, Erin has received advanced training in the assessment and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders through the Postpartum Stress Center, and infertility counseling through Covington, Hafkin & Associates.  She has also received advanced group psychotherapy training through the Washington School of Psychiatry. Prior to her work as a private practitioner, Erin served as a Staff Psychologist at Georgetown University's Counseling & Psychiatric Services on the Main and Law Center campuses. There, she served as the Group Therapy Coordinator and provided individual and group psychotherapy to undergraduate and graduate students.  

Erin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Georgetown University and her MA and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Catholic University.  During her doctoral training, Erin worked in a variety of settings in the Washington, DC area, including the American University Counseling Center, the Arlington County Mental Health Center, and the Psychiatric Institute of Washington's Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorders. During her final year of doctoral training, Erin completed a predoctoral internship at the George Washington University Counseling Center. Subsequently, she held a year-long postdoctoral fellowship at Georgetown University. 

Rachel Miller, Psy.D., Co-Director

Rachel is a licensed clinical psychologist in Washington DC, where she has been in private practice since 2004.  In her practice, she provides individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to adults and adolescents. Additionally, she is a clinical supervisor to pre- and post-doctoral trainees. Since 2007, Rachel serves as an Adjunct Faculty member for the Georgetown University Clinical Psychology Advanced Training Program, where she taught psychodynamic theory and technique to pre- and post-doctoral students. Rachel has completed an advanced group psychotherapy training program through the Washington School of Psychiatry and is certified by the American Group Psychotherapy Association (CGP) She is currently the co-chair of the National Group Psychotherapy Institute at the Washington School of Psychiatry. She has also completed an advanced couples training program through the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.  Prior to her work as a private practitioner, Rachel was a Staff Psychologist at Georgetown University's Counseling and Psychiatric Service on the Main and Law Center campuses. There, she served as Assistant Director of Training and the LGBTQ Specialist and provided individual and group psychotherapy to undergraduate and graduate students.

Rachel received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan and her Doctorate of Psychology from George Washington University. As a part of her doctoral training, she completed a Pre-Doctoral Internship at American University and clinical externships at various mental health facilities in the Washington DC area. After receiving her doctorate, Rachel continued her training as a post-doctoral fellow at Georgetown University. From 1998 to 2000, she worked at the National Institutes of Mental Health as a clinical researcher investigating the effectiveness of treatments for bipolar and major depressive disorders.


Prentices

Joanna Chakerian, LICSW, LCSW-C

Joanna is excited to join Prentice and grow her practice in the DC area. Joanna works with adults in individual psychotherapy on a broad range of issues, including anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, life transitions, trauma, eating and body image issues, and grief/loss. She also has a special focus on infertility and perinatal/postpartum mental health. Joanna builds a collaborative therapeutic relationship with her clients in a warm, non-judgmental and engaging environment. Her integrative therapeutic approach is primarily psychodynamic, while incorporating cognitive behavioral and mindfulness modalities. Joanna challenges clients to better understand themselves to grow and thrive. 

Joanna received her Masters in Social Work in Clinical Behavioral Health from the University of Maryland. After graduation, she worked as a therapist at The Women’s Center, M&K Counseling Associates, and Betsy Mencher, Ph.D, LLC.

Tyler Pietz, Ph.D., Associate

Tyler is excited to join the Prentice team as a psychology associate to provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and groups. Tyler practices as a generalist and most often works with individuals who are struggling with the stress of daily life, relationships, depression, anxiety, life adjustments, or addiction concerns. He has experience and interest in working with adult populations including college students, young professionals, and LGBTQ identifying individuals. Tyler’s collaborative approach to therapy provides a supportive environment to facilitate self-exploration and self-improvement.

Tyler received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Gallaudet University. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings including Gallaudet’s Counseling and Psychological Services, The Multicultural Clinical Center (Springfield, VA), Sheppard Pratt Hospital, the Psychiatric Institute of Washington DC, and the Howard University Counseling Center. He completed his predoctoral internship at University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Counseling and Psychological Services.

Jayoti Soor, Psy.D., Associate

Jayoti is a Psychology Associate in Washington, DC, where she provides individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. After receiving her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Jayoti is excited to continue her training as a post-doctorate fellow at Prentice. Jayoti has clinical experience and interest in working with adolescents and adults who are healing from trauma, particularly sexual assault and sexual abuse, LGBTQ identifying individuals, and immigrants facing acculturation stress. She is committed to addressing a wide range of psychological challenges including anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, complex/ acute trauma, and identity development. Her approach to therapy draws from psychodynamic, mindfulness, and dance/movement/psychosomatic approaches. Her interests lies in gender development and expression, trauma and identity, and how theories of social justice mirror psychology. Jayoti believes that building trust in the therapeutic relationship is the key to change. 

Jayoti received her M.Psy. and Doctor of Psychology from George Washington University. As a part of her doctoral training, she completed Pre-Doctoral Internship and Externship at George Mason University Counseling and Psychological Services. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Jayoti served as a therapist at Dominion Hospital, George Washington University Hospital, and Sagebrush Rehab Center, a dual-diagnosis addiction treatment center. Jayoti received her Master of Arts degree in Dance Movement Therapy/ Counseling from Antioch University New England. Passionate about the creative arts, advocacy, and communicating effectively, Jayoti also had a decade-long career in journalism and film making. Jayoti obtained her M.A. in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia University, and Bachelor of Journalism from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, India.
